What's better than a summer with horses?

Sport Horses Of Rohan is excited to offer Summer Horse Day Camps for kids. Each session is 5 days long and includes riding, snacks, hiking and T-Shirt starting at $250 a session. (Each must bring their own sack lunch)
Throughout the summer we will be offering different camps that focus on children's riding skills and disciplines.
Each camp will have guest instructors teaching skills like Roping, Dressage, Barrels, Saddleseat, Jumping and Equitation. We will also have guest appearances from farriers, vets and other equine specialists teaching the kids about horse health care.

The riding camp program caters to girls ages 7-16. It has been designed to build confidence, teach riding and horsemanship skills, instill respect for the environment, while encouraging new friendships with other girls who share the same interest.

To achieve these goals, our camp’s daily schedule is built around riding lessons. These lessons address the physical aspect of riding, teaching the body how to sit, balance and use aids (signals given with legs, seat, hands and voice) to direct and communicate with the horse. As campers acquire riding skills, they come to understand how a horse’s mind works and why he responds as he does.

Campers will develop their riding skills through lessons, but also through participating in games, as well as riding through obstacle courses. Activities such as grooming, tacking, feeding, learning the proper care of tack, and general barn management are aimed at increasing horsemanship skills. The program also features learning about horse anatomy, nutrition, breeds, parts of the saddle and bridle, and equestrian sports. Methods will include arts and crafts, games, and other hands-on activities.

Daily horseback riding is combined with swimming, arts and crafts, outdoor play, and nature exploration to ensure a well-rounded summer experience.

Each camp has 10 slots available to keep the experience more personable. Reserve your child's spot quick before we fill up. Camp Rohan accepts cash, checks and all major Credit Cards through Paypal and requires a $100 non-refundable deposit to reserve you child's spot. Each child is required to wear boots with a small heel for safety purposes. Helmets are available for use. Please call Melinda at 219-776-5319 with any questions.

Horse Newbies Riding Camp - $275 for session
Week Long Camps Starting June 16th through August 1th
Ages 8 and up

This is an all around introduction to horsemanship and riding. Kids will learn how to handle, groom, horse health and riding from the ground up. This is perfect for the child who has been in lessons and wants to learn more on the care aspect of horsemanship or the complete novice horse loving child that has been bugging you for ages to take them riding.

Drop off time is 10AM and pick up time 3PM. Please try to reserve your child's the Monday previous of the camp week.
