A Stall For Love
Sport Horses Of Rohan Adoption Program
This is Melinda Routh's personal project. A Stall For Love is a Sport Horses Of Rohan's Adoption program.
Melinda Routh sets aside one stall for an unwanted or abused horse. During their stay at SHOR they are rehabbed and retrained. Melinda then places the horse in a suitable home where they will be loved and well cared for.
Adoption contracts are signed and horses are not to be bred.
A Stall For Love Adoption Program comes straight out of the profits of SHOR and Melinda's own pocket.
When you join the SHOR family the fees you pay for lessons and training also help a wonderful cause.
Success Stories!

Addison
photo coming soon
Addison came to us in early summer from a breeding farm were she was a broodmare. She was originally purchased for the racetrack as a filly for $30,000. but Addison's heart was not into racing. She was then sold to the breeding farm to make fine barrel horse foals. After two years Addison was not bred, she was found to be unable to accept the pregnancy. That's when we received the call from the breeder stating he needed to place her. He liked the mare so much that he wanted to make sure that she did not end up going to slaughter but he needed her gone yesterday. The next day we picked up Addison and bought her to the barn. He was right, she was a complete sweetheart.
Addison was adopted by a family of Chesterton Indiana. She has started training to compete in the hunter ring. We have found out truly where her heart lies.... Addison loves to jump!
Maximus Meridius

Maximus is an Off The Track Thoroughbred who was retired to his owners farm. His owner became ill and passed away leaving his wife with seven horses that she did not know how to care for. Months had passed and the horses were left in their stalls without being turn out. When we got on the scene all the horses were about 200-300 pounds under weight. We placed all the horses within a couple weeks. Most went to farms in Illinois to big hearted people and Maximus came to us.
When he arrived at our barn he could barely walk because he was so weak and under nourished. He had problems getting up after he rolled and sometimes collapsed.
Now 5 1/2 months later he is feisty and started training as a Hunter. He has been adopted by Heather from Barrington Hill, Il. and being loved.
Indiana Jolie
Jolie came to us from a riding barn that needed to cut down their herd. She has place adopted by Martha of Chesterton Indiana.
Pippin
This cute little guy came from not such a bad home. They really just didn't know too much about horses and how to care for them. He was wormy and over fed. His feet were awful. He has been adopted by Karen of Valparaiso Indiana and is ponying her grandson around.
** UPDATE Pippin has come back to SHOR. I have decided that Pippin is now the SHOR mascot and will live his days hanging out with me, as my bud! :)
